I Do Not Come to You by Chance is an African contemporary novel by Adaobi Tricia Nwaubani, which follows the story of a young man, Kingsley Ibe, who is burdened with responsibility and the efforts he makes for his family. The family is disappointed in Kingsley’s actions and he is murdered when he involves himself in the political world. Despite not taking over Cash Daddy’s business, Kingsley sets up his own organization, an Internet café, which pleases his mother. The ending shows that people like Kingsley operate under false pretenses across the country, but there’s humor in how they’re portrayed.
